The annexe policy, in full

Responsible play

Gaming at Aureline Pass is optional, adults-only, physically separate from the rest of the lodge, and never presented as a way to make money.

18+ or local legal age Photographic ID at every entry No online wagering anywhere here

Four commitments

The salon annexe has operated under the same four commitments since it was converted in 1963, and they are printed on the wall inside the door.

It is optional and never suggested. The annexe is not mentioned at check-in. There are no leaflets in the residences, no signage in the corridors, no machines anywhere in the main building and no advertising on our terrace or in our correspondence. Staff discuss it only if a guest raises it first. A great many people stay a fortnight here and never open that door, which is exactly as it should be.

It is for adults, verified every time. Entry requires a passport or national identity card showing an age of 18 or the local legal gaming age, whichever is higher. A room key is not identification and neither is a familiar face; regulars are asked in the same way as strangers. Minors are never admitted under any circumstances, accompanied or otherwise, and are not permitted to wait inside the entrance.

It is separate. The annexe is a detached building across an open courtyard with no internal connection to the residences, the table or the thermal halls. You cannot walk through it to reach anything else, and nothing else routes through it. This is a structural decision, not a matter of signage.

It makes no claims. Nobody here will tell you that outcomes can be predicted, that a session is likely to be profitable, that a seat or a time of night improves your position, or that any system works. None of that is true. Gaming is entertainment with a cost that is not known in advance, and it should be budgeted like a theatre ticket you might drop in the snow.

Practical protections

Attendants are trained to notice and to act. Service is refused to anyone who appears intoxicated, distressed or unwell, and that judgement is not open to negotiation. Cash machines are deliberately not installed in the annexe or the courtyard. There are clocks on two walls, the room has no music, and attendants are instructed to suggest a break rather than to keep a table full.

Any guest may set a personal limit with the duty attendant on arrival, and the counter will hold to it for the evening. Any guest may request self-exclusion, verbally or in writing, at which point admission is refused permanently from that moment and the request is never reviewed, reversed on request, or followed by any contact from us. We do not operate a loyalty scheme, do not send offers, and do not contact former guests about the annexe for any reason.

If you are worried about someone travelling with you, speak to the duty attendant or the lodge desk in confidence. We will not discuss another adult’s activity with you, but we will listen, and we will act within the annexe.

Independent help

Where to find real support

We are hospitality staff, not counsellors. The organisations below are independent of us, free at the point of use, and better at this than we are.

National helplines
Free and confidentialMost countries operate a dedicated gambling helpline, usually 24 hours. Search for the national service in your own country, or ask the lodge desk to look up the current number for you.
Peer support
Group meetingsFellowship groups meet in the regional town weekly, including one meeting for family members rather than players. The desk keeps the current times on a card.
Your doctor
A good first stepGeneral practitioners can refer to specialist services and are used to this conversation. It is a health matter, not a moral one.
Self-exclusion
Immediate, permanentAsk any attendant or the lodge desk. Effective from that moment, with no review process and no contact from us afterwards.
Blocking tools
On your own devicesIndependent software can block gambling sites and card transactions. Many banks will also apply a gambling block on request.
Regulator
Licensing authorityThe annexe is licensed locally and the licence number is displayed at the door. Complaints may be taken to the authority directly.

What this website will never do

  • Offer wagering, staking, odds, games or play-for-fun simulations of any kind.
  • Suggest that gaming is a source of income, or that any outcome is likely.
  • Publish winners, results, testimonials or figures of any sort.
  • Advertise offers, credits, bonuses, packages or discounts — none exist.
  • Use timers, urgency prompts or any device designed to hurry you.
  • Target, mention or appeal to anyone below the legal age.

If you have read this page and decided the annexe is not for you, nothing about your stay changes. The residences, the table, the thermal halls, the reading rooms and six walking routes are the lodge; the annexe is one room across a courtyard that you may simply ignore.
